Gillian Flynn continues to be the director of my nightmares. After Gone Girl, Sharp Objects was next on my list - and it does not disappoint. Smart, thrilling, disturbing, violent and sort of poetic, is manages to capture small-town life along with its perfect facade and destructive interior. Definitely a great summer read as you might not be as frightened when you dive into this on a sunny beach with a young fresh coconut in hand.

I’ve decided to start reading one non-fiction book each month; there are tons of interesting ones out there, but somehow I always end up adding them to a list and then promptly forgetting about them. For this summer, it’s Susan Cain’s “Quiet”, a book about the power of introverts in today’s extremely outgoing and sharing world, and “Make the Bread, Buy the Butter” by Jennifer Reese, where she talks about which staples in the kitchen you should be making yourself and which ones are fine to buy in the store.
